Cyberzoo is an early net art piece that addressed the issue of virality in networks, anticipating the changes that social networks would cause years later, not only on the Internet but mainly in the behavior of the subject in society. On the other hand, it opened questions about the leading role that Artificial Intelligence would play in it.
Cyberzoo is presented as a virtual zoo "where it is possible to experience the wildest expressions of the artificial life in the security of your computer".
The piece works on two main ideas: to place the visitor in the blurred limits that separate the natural of the artificial and be part of the paradox to apply the logic of Biology or Ecology to these new surroundings. But mainly, Ciberzoo plays with the idea that the limits that appear to us at the present time -after the irruption of new technologies- as less definable, are the limits of the human being. Crossed by ideas that nowadays are difficult to define as own, by machinical or non-human speeches, and playing a roll always changing and never chosen within the global network.
